Current tax breaks and rates impact the economy significantly. A flat tax is equality. Whether you make $10,000 or $100,000, paying a flat tax is fair. Enforcing a flat tax will not only help the economy, but it will also stop punishing someone for getting a promotion or raise at work.
Equality for everyone, that is what our country is founded on. It is not fair that a large portion of the population do not have to pay as much (if any) in taxes yet are allowed to vote and decide how that tax money is spent.
