It is not 1962, the cold war is over. By putting up these sanctions on Cuba, we have only propped up Fidel's regime, and continued his rule. If we lift the economic embargo and talk and trade with our close neighbor, then there will be more opportunities for The Cuban people. Sanctions only hurt the people, not the government, and this is why The Cuban government has lasted so long. Just look at The Vietnamese, we stopped fighting and now we trade together, this is more beneficial for each economy and people. Look also to The Soviets and Chinese, we talked to them and maintained diplomacy, but we have cast Cuba into the dark, and The Cuban Communist regime is still in power. We are surely living in the dark ages, when we can't even talk to The Cuban people, or send them packages.
