The word "Marriage" carries with it deep Religious connotations and has caused for many years divide and contention in our Nation. The Federal government recognizes the union between individuals by way of recognizing the contracts agreed to by both parties. This is the essence of a Marriage certificate is to allow for the Federal government to regulate the institution and have final arbitration through the judiciary system concerning Wills, child custody and divorce proceedings.
We pose that the word itself is an offence to the First Amendment. If we are to be a nation that recognizes and respects all walks of Faith and Religions, and the lack of both, then the word "Marriage" should FEDERALLY be changed to a FULLY accepted word or phrase. Across the board.
