The United States of America were founded as a secular nation, respecting the establishment of no religion, but protecting all religions. The inclusions of the words 'In God We Trust' are a direct result of McCarthy-era fear of "godless communism". This fear has continued to cause great schisms within US society. Replace these words with 'E Pluribus Unum', the one, true motto of the USA.
