"I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular refrence to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. (The) spirit of revenge natural to party dissensions, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism."
These were the words of our first President, George Washington. Even back in
the 1770s he saw the troubles that would come from party politics. What have parties provided us with? A deadlocked Congress and Senate that barely passes any form of legislation, a collection of biased medias that push their own political party's agenda, and a large percentage of the population that vote only in favor of their party and has lead to a large divide in our nation.
