The right to freedom of speech does not include free speech zones, proselytizing restrictions, and quieting the voice of college campuses. The First Amendment protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference, including both federal and state agencies. Free speech zones are the small jail-like cells that are implemented by law enforcement authorities set up wherever major politicians go. Proselytizing restriction examples include arrests for passing out free Bibles, damaging our right to religion. Colleges infringe journalism and protests. As John Locke claimed, governments exist by the consent of the people in order to protect the rights of the people and promote the public good.
