As a former President, Andrew Jackson was an advocate and perpetrator of genocide, slaughtering and pursuing the extermination of Native American and Indian tribes and Nations. This is the man we have honored by placing him on one of our most commonly used bills of currency.
Instead, perhaps a unifying figure could replace him, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. or Rosa Parks, persons who advocated for non-violence and peaceful equality for all peoples, a person who it would be good to actually honor.
Replace the Indian Killer with a hero.
