Andrew Jackson was ultimately responsible for the forceful relocation of Native Americans from the east coast in what is known as the Trail of Tears. Thousands died and all suffered during the five year ordeal. Having US currency that celebrates the architect of such a horrible act of ethnic cleansing is a travesty.
This petition proposes that his picture is replaced with the logo from the Trail of Tears National Historic Trails or that of a significant Native American like Chief John Ross or Sequoyah to honor the first people of this country and honor those that were lost.
