We have billions of U.S. twenty dollar bills in circulation, all depicting a murderer and racist, our 7th president, Andrew Jackson.
Previously, Thomas Jefferson's policy had been to respect 'civilized' native american rights to their homelands. Jackson changed all of that for the worse. In fact, during Jackson's eight years as president he passed only one major piece of legislation, The Indian Removal Act. This act paved the way for the forcible removal of tens of thousands of indians ultimately resulting in ethnic cleansing and theft of land.
Jackson bought & sold slaves and used slaves to run his plantation and in fact gained nearly all his wealth on the backs of those slaves.
It's time to stop glorifying a murderer and racist and replace him with a more worthy figure.
