Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of the United States. During his administration thousands of Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Chickasaw, and Seminole were forcibly removed from their homeland and driven into western territories in what is now referred to as the Trail of Tears. Hundreds died in the displacement.
This action was done in defiance of a Supreme Court ruling, and was both cruel and inhumane.
It is not fit of a modern, civilized democracy to continue representing our people and government with the image of President Jackson on our money. To endorse his legacy is shameful and reprehensible.
Congress and the President should pass legislation or executive order replacing his image on the Twenty Dollar bill to another, more deserving, individual from our history.
