Andrew Jackson passed and enforced the Indian Removal Act, which forced tens of thousands of Native Americans to emigrate to the west, called the "Trail of Tears." The Cherokee sued the state of Georgia for passing subsequent laws restricting Cherokee authority over their lands, and the Supreme Court declared the laws unconstitutional in Worcester v. Georgia. Despite this ruling, Jackson proceeded with the removal of the Cherokees. Jackson also dismantled the Second Bank of the United States, which helped cause the Panic of 1837 and subsequent recession. By keeping Andrew Jackson on the twenty, we are implying support for his treatment of the Native Americans and reckless economic policy, the two major hallmarks of his term.
