The text of the Second Amendments read: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed"
Though gun-rights advocates such as the NRA have chosen to ignore any reference to regulation and our elected officials have acquiesced to the fear mongering and have allowed special interest to direct policy - or lack thereof - which has allowed America to become a country which ignores the basic protections and security it should afford its citizens. Gun violence is rampant in our country and is widely out of step with levels found in other comparable developed nations.
If we chose to ignore the problem, then let's have our Constitution reflect reality and not even mention regulation at all.
