Woodrow Wilson was a progressive racist. Just as efforts are underway to remove the battle flag of the Northern Virginia army in the Civil War (i.e. the vernacular Confederate flag) and to remove any reference to any Confederate soldiers across the country, we the people petition President Obama to continue these efforts regarding the racist President known as Woodrow Wilson.
Wilson segregated the army which had been de-segregated after the Civil War.
Wilson lamented the period of Reconstruction in the South when he said, "self-preservation [forced whites] to rid themselves, by fair means or foul, of the intolerable burden of governments sustained by the votes of ignorant negroes." He even showed the first movie in the White House. The one he chose? "Birth of a Nation!"
