Due to reactionary behaviors to a dangerous disease, the US government created a prohibition against any man who had engaged in sexual conduct with another man donating blood. Though at that time it could have been seen to be well justified, scientific evidence shows that such prohibitions no longer prevent these diseases entering the blood supply. In fact, such prohibitions reinforce the belief that AIDs and HIV is "homosexual" disease.
In a time when our blood supplies can often run dangerously low, especially when our armed forces are engaging in conflicts, all possible healthy resources should be considered. It has been shown that its not the sexual orientation of the donor that indicates disease, but the personal consideration for safety. Please let every safe person donate!
