Mr. Duncan’s work over the past 5 years has further eroded confidence in public education. Race to the Top, Mr. Duncan’s signature initiative, is destroying public education while giving more power and taxpayer money to unaccountable charter schools. Highly skilled teachers like me are ignored, diminished and being reduced to test prep technicians.
Educators work best, and students learn best in environments of collaboration. Mr. Duncan continues to foster an environment of competition and corporate profits. Education is NOT a business. Schools should not be run like a business. Students are NOT products coming off an assembly line.
Secretary Duncan needs to be replaced - now.
