Since reclassification is necessary anyways, I suggest that we completely remove marijuana from the FDA's list of controlled substances. Alcohol and caffeine are not considered a controlled substance so cannabis, being less dangerous than alcohol and more beneficial than caffeine, should also not be considered a controlled substance. This is the only way to immediately stop the prosecution of marijuana users while at the same time open the doors for commercialization without creating too many barriers for entry into the market.
