This federal classification was enacted by Congress in 1970 and is not based on any scientific or medical assessment. The Classification ignores the massive evidence of marijuana's medical value, and puts marijuana in the same drug classification as heroin, LSD and PCP.
Where schedule II drugs such as cocaine, morphine and methamphetamine are still considered to have high abuse potential but with accepted medical uses and considered safe for use under medical supervision. That's right, federal law currently classifies marijuana as more dangerous than methamphetamine .
