For too long, Congress has argued over how to best balance the budget and get the economy back on track.
Many of them have suggested cutting Social Security benefits that have already been payed for by the people they are supposed to help. We find this unacceptable.
At present, Social Security taxes are only collected on the first $110,100 of income. Any income above that amount is not taxed for Social Security.
This leads to fostering inequality and reducing the benefits for the people that actually need them, while the obscenely wealthy are freed from responsibility.
Therefore, to ensure the solvency of Social Security and stop discriminatory tax policies, we request that President Obama remove this cap on Social Security taxes and make any such cap illegal, effective immediately.
