Remove Columbus Day as a holiday and replace it with a national election day holiday.

Created by B.H. on October 07, 2015

In light of new historical information about Christopher Columbus's behavior toward the native people he discovered already living on this soil, and in light of the difficulty faced by working people to squeeze in voting on an arbitrary Tuesday in November, we the undersigned propose the removal of Columbus Day as a national holiday and the addition of Election Day as a national holiday. In so doing, there will be a net zero effect on the economy and small businesses, yet our democracy can flourish with participation.
