Columbus was not the first European to discover America, which of course was already inhabited by Native Americans. It doesn't make sense that you are revered each year in America for discovering a place people that people have been living on for centuries. The jingle "Columbus sailed the Ocean blue in 1492" just doesn't float anymore.
It's time to add a 9/11 Memorial Day as a national holiday to remember our fallen friends, impacted families and brave individuals that dealt, and are still dealing with that awful day.
