Remove Columbus Day as a national holiday. It's offensive that we celebrate the life of a slave merchant.

Created by W.H. on June 25, 2015

1. Columbus did NOT discover America.
2. He did NOT prove the world round.
3. He did NOT bring over the pilgrims.
4. He was a profiteer and not a good man.
5. He declared genocide on Jews and Islam under the banner of Spain.
6. He was a slave trader of Native Americans.

Now that we have removed General Lee's battle flag we should continue to remove further icons of racism and slavery and stop ignoring that they exist. The history of Don Christobal Colon (Christopher Columbus) has been wrongly written and our students misinformed for centuries. If we are going to face the truth about the rebellion in the South, then we should face the truth about who Columbus truly was and wasn't.
