The cross at the World Trade Center Memorial is not only unconstitutional, but an insult to the non-Christian victims of the 9/11 attacks. Those attacks were an American tragedy, not a Christian one. The first amendment to the Constitution commands that government shall not endorse a specific religion. This is also supported by more than a century of legal precedent. It is true that the cross is a historical artifact, but it is also a religious one. I propose that it be moved back into a church so that all can honor those whose lives were taken that day.
