DOMA prevents many people to receive the same rights as others in this country. Without same sex marriage people are missing out on 1,138 privileges and immunities that are given to married couples. In article XIV of the U.S. Constitution it states "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States..."
