As the donkey was originally a symbol of Andrew Jackson a man who supported slavery and initiated the Trail of Tears, we petition that the Donkey be removed as the animal symbol of the Democratic Party. This symbol of the Democratic party (used prominently during the Civil War) has a long history of racism and hatred that can not be washed away by current good deeds and as such must be retired from use. Heritage must come second in the fight against hate.
