Due to recent protests by professional sports teams and high school teams (Camden, NJ), it appears that the ideas and values of Dr. King are no longer accepted by African Americans in the United States. I propose that all Federal, State and local school districts remain open during his day of recognition. Efforts by the black community to continue to raise issues about economic inequity and slavery in the US was an issue addressed in 1865. Continuing to focus on this issue in 2016, is stopping any progress promoted by the 1960's civil rights movement.
