We the people, petition the Obama administration to amend the National Labor Relations Act, specifically the duty of fair representation, to remove the requirement that union representatives represent employees who are not members of the respective bargaining units. This requirement puts an unfair financial burden on bargaining units and uses valuable union resources. It is also unfair to employees who choose not to be members of the union to be represented by an organization that they believe is not in their best interest to support. Employees who choose not to be members of the union in their workplaces should be allowed to negotiate their wages and benefits individually. They should only be protected by state and federal laws and any issues should not be eligible for arbitration.
