The United States of America is a democracy and founded on freedom and basic civil liberties. One of them is to choose who we vote for. When it comes to the Presidential Election, many Americans do not vote because they feel their vote doesn't count because they live in a red or blue state. The electoral college has a strangle hold on citizens and leave us citizens who do vote angry because our vote "didn't count".
The electoral college was written into law in 1845 when less people could read and write, and this the Gov't thought people's decisions were less informed. In today's society we have the ability to be more informed.
The bad is that the election votes cannot be tallied in hours, but would take days. Couple days to have my vote count? Not bad.
