When electing a president the president is elected by the electoral votes that come from each state. Not all states have the same number of electoral votes. Because of the electoral voting system not all votes truly count as a vote for the elect. With the electoral voting system gone WE THE PEOPLE can truly elect a president based on each and every individual Americans vote.
