I served in the US Navy from 1988-1992. When I got out of the military, I got married and started a family. Due to familial issues and a subsequent layoff at work, I was not able to go back to school until after my GI Bill had "expired". A veteran should be able to use their GI Bill as long as they have funds remaining. Also, in my case, I paid $100 a month for my first year of service, so part of the money is my OWN money. People are not always able to use their GI Bill funds immediately after they leave the military, and should not lose this precious benefit, especially when they also contributed to it financially. Veterans willingly sacrificed themselves in service of this great country, and ensuring that they receive their full benefits is the least that each one deserve. Thank you.
