Remove the FDA Ban on Gay Men Donating Blood

Created by D.L. on January 14, 2013

We ask the Obama administration to remove or change the FDA ban on gay men donating blood.

We believe that the ban in inherantly discriminatory against men who have sex with men (MSM), by making assumptions about risky sexual behaviors and disease status, based solely on sexual prefernece. Such assumptions, while based on research, do not account for individuals within the group. The entire country would be better served by screning out those who engage in high risk practices, since everyone who engages in sexual activities is at risk for HIV/AIDS.

We aks the White House to put an end to this discrimination and allow the MSM community to better serve the needs of their country.

January is National Blood Donor Month and we'd like to give the gift of life.
