Marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I drug by the DEA, meaning it has no medical or research value. Scientific research has proven this to be incorrect and shown that marijuana does indeed have properties conducive to healing and pain relief.
Currently, nearly 700,000 taxpaying Americans per year are arrested, lose their jobs, and incur financial hardship simply for possessing a harmless plant. This is not the government protecting Americans; rather they are using their power to oppress otherwise law abiding citizens, some of whom have no choice but to break the current unconscionable laws because it offers them the relief they so desperately need.
Nearly half the states have enacted medical marijuana laws with encouraging results. It is time to end unfair marijuana laws.
