Remove Gender Identity Disorder as a disqualifying condition from military service.

Gender Identity disorder is the classification applied by the DSM to individuals who identify with a gender which differs from the one implied by their biology. Currently, Individuals who have been diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder, or who have obtained any sort of surgery to alter their sex, may be banned from joining the military. All this petition asks is that complex consideration be given to a complex issue. Trans* people looking to join the military represent diverse lifestyles and gender presentations. They are not unstable, and should not be characterised or understood as such by the United States government or military.
