Andrew Jackson was a slave trader and slave owner whose interest in removing the Indians was based in his interest in expanding cottom farming so he could get rich selling slaves. Within 7 years of Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act 46,000 natives were removed from their homelands east of the Miss to give 25M acres of land “to white settlement and to slavery." Andrew Jackson worked hard to earn his nickname, "Indian Killer."
