The words "in god we trust" is on several pieces of American coinage, and "under god" remains in the pledge. I, and several others, believe that this country was founded under the idea that religion should not be mandatory. While this may not be forcing the people under the religion, no religion should be represented by the government. While about 80% of Americans may be christian, that does not mean that this country should accept Christianity as a national religion. Return the pledge back to its original state. American coinage states "in god we trust". This is very alienating, as it separates atheists and people of other religions from "we". As if to suggest that they are not an American citizen.
