The first amendment of the United States constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," as well as Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers, claiming a separation of church and state within our country. As a country that is said to have a distinct separation of church and state, it seems contradictory that legal tender has such a Christian claim on it. All men are created equal and a freedom of religion is granted to us as United States citizens. I kindly ask that the Obama Administration will consider removing the text of "In God We Trust" from legal tender and/or replacing it with a more universal, secular quote to keep people from any and all religions satisfied.
