Adopted by Congress July 30, 1956 as our motto, added to most of our coins in 1864, and to our paper currency in 1957, "In God We Trust" which replaced our original motto "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of One, Many) has alienated and insulted a great percentage of Americans now for 149 years and counting. This should never have occurred as it is a direct violation of the Constitution and a slap in the face to our forefathers that always intended this to be a secular nation.
We believe this has gone on far too long and that it is long overdue to be changed back so as to be inclusive of ALL the diverse beliefs of Americans and not promote the faith of only those who happen to believe in the god of the bible.
We respectfully ask the Obama Administration & all of Congress to consider our petition.
