After record abuses of the filibuster on the part of Senate Republicans over the past few years, the Democratic Party had a real and unique opportunity to bring about real change by passing meaningful filibuster reform, including requiring senators wanting to filibuster to actually do it by taking and holding the floor. Reid had the votes but failed to even bring the real reform to a vote, saying "“I’m not personally, at this stage, ready to get rid of the 60-vote threshold...with the history of the Senate, we have to understand the Senate isn’t and shouldn’t be like the House."
The Democratic Party deserves real leadership. Harry Reid isn't it.
