With "childhood obesity" becoming a problem, the government has enacted several restrictions on what schools can serve for lunch. There are few things I would like to point in response:
1. Not all kids are fat. In 2012, only 21% of all the kids ages 12-19 were obese. The number was 18% for kids 6-11. Obese is defined as having excess body fat. Overweight can be due to fat, but also due to bone and muscle (which should be encouraged). This was said by the CDC, a government agency.
2. Many kids, who do not like the taste of healthier foods, can simply ask for the fatty equivalent from the parents.
What should be done is to make regulations shook specific. Certain rules for the climate of students they have. This will allow schools to tailor more to what their students may want. Thank you.
