If it is time to bring down the stars and bars the last time, let us not be selective in our condemnation of symbols of oppression. The Democratic Party, the main fundraising events for which are still named after slave holding white males, has opposed the Union, ending slavery, ending segregation, and was opposed to same sex marriage. Its symbol, the donkey, is associated with terrible deeds done by Democratic officeholders. The party should choose a new symbol.
