Judge Jean Boyd sentenced Ethan Couch to 10 years probation in the drunk driving deaths of 4 people. Her sentencing was based on her belief of the defense's argument that the teenager suffered from Affluenza. This is an unrecognized, imaginary diagnosis stating the boy's wealthy lifestyle and lack of boundaries should release him from any serious consequences of his actions. In addition to the 4 deaths Ethan Couch seriously injured 7 others. The judge did not take into account his previous history with the law nor the fact his blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit. Instead she allowed the families wealth to influence her ruling.
