Mid-summer 2012, a law was passed invalidating high school diplomas for kids that graduated May 2012 from home school and private Christian schools. This stopped graduates from being able to use diplomas to get into college. Basically throwing away their diplomas and having to take the GED to get FAFSA.
Example: Salutatorian graduate's diploma is just a wall ornament. This graduate felt like a failure having to take her GED and had to miss the first semester of college in order to get Federal aid.
