to remove lifetime pensions for elected members of government other than president.

Created by J.D. on December 02, 2012

Life time pensions for elected representatives who only serve a few years in government is unreasonable and undeserved.
In our country's early history government service was considered a patriotic sacrifice not a lifetime of entitlement. No other American citizen can work less than twenty years and receive that kind of pension. This kind of entitlement creates a special class of citizen who sees government service a very good 'job' and gives very little incentive to leave government and return to the private sector or to relate to regular working class citizens.
No other pension plan provides the same benefit as the working salary.
Government officials are not a special class of citizen who deserve more than ordinary citizens.
