In the year 1948, the words "under god" were added to the pledge of allegiance. This is not only a backhand to the non-religious Americans, but it's also infringing on the separation on church and state. We should not view this nation as people united by a deity, but as a nation unified by the ideals and sense of fellowship that make us Americans.
