This petition is here to alleviate the ridiculous restraints on a plant that is clinically proven to help certain medical conditions. Opium is legal for medicine and it is highly addictive and possibly lethal whereas marijuana is not addictive and has never killed or been named the cause of death since the beginning of record keeping. The government cannot give a straight, honest answer as to why they wont legalize but I can tell you that it started in the 30's by Harry Anslinger, a buffoon and a misinformed politician who spread propaganda that marijuana is the Devil's weed, a plant that would drive people to insanity. Obviously this is not true and is an antiquated idea that should have been abolished long ago. Please sign this petition and end the costly and pointless war on weed.
