Many couples are choosing to live together instead of marrying their partner . Technically a couple with disabilities can get married but it wouldn't be the mature choice to make financially speaking if they receive financial support from the government through social security or supplemental security
If you add what your partners income is plus what you receive from supplemental security and combine the two . If it is more than 3,000 which is all that is allowed for a married couple and 2,000 for singles to have you would risk losing supplemental security and Medicare insurance which helps pay for medical supplies and medical treatment that we can't afford to pay for ourselves . Because it would be difficult to make enough to afford all that and more .
