The Republican-controlled U.S. Congress continues to fail to take any meaningful action to stem gun violence in America. Bought and paid for by the NRA, they want us to accept that gun violence is so little an area of concern that no small measure (whether it be improved background checks or efforts to make sure terrorists who are on the terror list can't obtain weapons) will make a difference. In fact, they say "good guys" with guns will keep us all safer in the public arena.
So, why are there metal detectors on Capitol Hill? Why are our tax dollars going to support an expense that is, according to their logic, so unnecessary and extravagant? If legislators aren't worried enough for OUR safety, why should we be that concerned about theirs? Let the NRA keep them safe.
