The penny is a deadweight on the Unites states in every way. It costs approximately 1.8 cents to make each new penny so each coin is not even worth what it represents. It also is an inconvenience in every day transactions when they could all be more easily rounded to the nearest 5 cents. The U.S. military has already done this as well as several other countries including Australia and they all saw no detrement to their economy. The United States has even done this before with the half-cent coin and saw little change in the economy. Because of these reasons I believe that the one-cent coin should be retired from our used currency.
