Remove or fix the Tiahrt Amendment and allow the ATF to do what it was created to do and curb gun violence

Remove the restrictions that stop the ATF from doing its job. Namely the Tiahrt Admendment which renders the ATF almost ineffective in response to the firearm aspect of it's name. The provisions of this admendment prohibit the ATF from requiring inventory checks (to account for lost or stolen guns), essentially relying on self reporting, it requires the destruction of background checks within 24 hrs after approval making it impossible to use records to solve crimes and to identify shady gun buyers.
The best way to reduce gun violence is to have better enforcment of laws already on the books but this can not happen if the federal agency tasked with polcing these laws has been netured.
