The petition site, in it's current form, apparently confuses people and causes them to believe they are initiating democratic process. The United States Government is harmed enough by the fact that many citizens fail to recognize the difference between a democracy and a republic, but this adds to it. Additionally, it is this authors fear that these petitions are viewed by various members of the government to initiate action.
A republic is not a place for mob rule, but this site fosters a belief in the mob mentality. I would ask that you revamp this or remove it. Whitehouse website development dollars would be better spent educating people about their liberties and how to truly interact with the system.
