Remove parallel parking as a requisite to obtaining a Driver's License.

Created by L.K. on March 30, 2013

We hereby petition the Obama Administration and the United States Government to remove parallel parking as a requirement for successfully obtaining a driver's license. Parallel parking is discriminatory against women and the poor for the following reasons: 1. 43% of women, compared to 21% of men, rate their parallel parking ability as "fair" or poor (Harris Poll). 2. Cars which can parallel park themselves, such as the Lincoln MKS midsize sedan, are only affordable to the top 5% percent of income earners. Furthermore, parallel parking is a skill which prevents otherwise capable drivers from obtaining a driver's license, thereby potentially harming the livelihoods of individuals and U.S. economic output.
Parallel parking is also an arbitrarily tested skill, as not all DPS's require it.
